Annapolis – The Navy Midshipmen laid claim to the regular season Patriot League title after splitting a doubleheader with Bucknell on Sunday to conclude a four-game series. The Mids are 37-12-1 overall and were 15-5 in the Patriot League, good for their second straight regular season crown. Next up for the Mids is a tournament tune-up game against Division II Chestnut Hill on Saturday at Max Bishop Stadium. The top-seeded Navy squad will face the same fourth-seeded Bucknell (17-32, 8-12 PL) team again on May 14 and (if needed) Sunday May 15 to determine the winner of the best-of-three series. The Mids will host.

Leaders for Navy going into the postseason are ace left-hander Luke Gillingham (8-2, 75 IP, 80K, 1.32 ERA) on the mound and junior outfielder Robert Currie (.367 BA, 28 RBI, 12-12 SB) at the plate. Navy has yet to receive votes for the NCWBA Top 30 but can expect to change if they advance in the Patriot League tournament and beyond. The PL tournament winner receives an automatic NCAA postseason bid.
